We always suspected this and science has finally proved us right. So it’s official, men are more likely to accept bullsh*t as long as it’s from an attractive woman.
A study titled ‘The undermining effect of facial attractiveness on brain responses to fairness in the Ultimatum game’ claims men are more willing to put up with a lot of nonsense for a pretty face.
To arrive at this conclusion, the researchers showed male participants pictures of women who had been sorted into unattractive and attractive groups by a separate group of people.
The male participants in the study were given deals they were told actually existed, in which they were asked to split ¥10 with the women pictured.
The results showed that the male participants were more likely to accept unfair splits of the money when the deal was proposed by one of the women from the ‘attractive’ group.
According to the co-authors of the study, unfair offers from the attractive female allocators were more acceptable to the males and the males presented fluctuating reaction times to the five offers in comparison with a stable reaction pattern in the unattractive face condition.
It was also observed that the males took longer time to think over the deals and respond if it was an attractive female because attractive faces elicited a decreased early negativity and an enhanced late positive potential compared with unattractive faces.
So this study now makes it official; men are more willing to put up with a lot of nonsense for a pretty face.
The study was published in Frontiers in Neuroscience.
