CAN A RELATIONSHIP SURVIVE WITHOUT SEX?

I know it’s really hard to tell ourselves the truth; the truth is always faced with backlash and hostility; everyone prefers to hear that sugar coated lie that seems to be the truth but is still far away from the truth.

Neo and I once did a similar debate; it was titled sex before marriage: a sin or necessary evil, my stance on that still remains the same. My stance on that topic didn’t change and I would still relate it with this.

The simple question that can answer this question is “how many relationships have survived without sex?” If you can show me quite a number that has survived without sex over the ones that has survived with sex then I would gladly eat my words.

If a relationship can survive without sex then it won’t even be a topic for debate; most people that would easily claim to have that relationship without sex are the ones that are wholly having a relationship with sex or their partner is cheating on them; it doesn’t get past both scenarios. It’s easy to claim that having a relationship without sex would work but the actual practice of such claims is practiced by a non-existent minority.

Sex is more like a passionate expression of love; one which most mature adults would likely indulge in to ignite the passion in that relationship. A relationship to survive without sex is like telling a kid to survive without biscuits, candy and chocolate; not that those sweet things are important to a child’s growth but they make the child happy. Funny enough, they even have a bad effect on a child’s health but you still won’t take it away from them.

As far as a relationship is concerned, sex and love are siblings that always go side by side; one can hardly do without the other. Sex is more like the end point of the passion that breathes in a relationship and even the starting point; it actually just revolves around the relationship. Funny enough, lack of sex has even led to the breakup of countless relationships; that even answers the question that we have put across.

It would be amazing to see a practical way that can make a relationship survive all the temptations of sex without any partner cheating. I think that would be the eighth and ninth wonders of the world.

I just hope my words won’t be taken out of context, I’m obviously not backing illicit sex or sex before marriage, I’m just trying to be a realist and to be honest as well; you would hardly see a guy that would want to be in a relationship without sex and still be faithful to his partner.

I’m not placing sex above love; I would never do that; you only need to read my articles to understand that; but that shouldn’t blur my judgment or make me bias not to state the obvious; this question really has only one answer to be honest, and I just hope I won’t be tagged wrongly for being a realist.
