Having a good reputation at work is highly important. Many employees have faced the sack because they of certain work habits that many employers consider unprofessional.

When you have a bad work reputation, you become expendable to the organisation.

These habits would definitely ruin your work reputation.

1. LATENESS

Punctuality is an important work habit that everyone should imbibe. Punctuality puts you in good light and it shows dedication and commitment. However, lateness throws you in bad light; it passes a message of nonchalance and lacking seriousness.

2. INAPPROPRIATE RELATIONSHIPS

Most companies have a policy that is against flirtatious and sexual relationships amongst staffs. This policy is done to encourage professionalism among workers, and when professionalism exists, productivity spikes. However, a lack of professionalism could ruin the company’s productivity and could further lead to other factors that wouldn’t be appreciated.

So, inappropriate relationship is another no go area for every employee.

3. UNNECESSARY CHATTERING

Many workers forget that work time is work time. Unnecessary chattering could make you lose focus and would also give you a bad reputation in your workplace. Many people are known as talkative, gossips or masters in argument in their workplace — that’s a bad work reputation.

4. SOCIAL MEDIA ADDICTION

Many people tend to spend more time on their Facebook page and other social media than their work. Social media addiction is another habit that would ruin your reputation — work time should be work time; you’re paid to maintain full concentration in your job.

5. SLEEPINESS

To some, they never go a day without dozing off during work hours. Being a sleepy head would definitely make you lose your work reputation; learn to have enough sleep in the night and stay focused during working hours.
