To be a rich man, it takes a different level of understanding and actions. Of a truth, the rich do things differently from the average man, and that’s why they keep getting richer.
There is no luck to genuinely creating wealth; you have to do things differently from the ordinary man to achieve such success.
Below are eight things rich people do differently.
1. THE AVERAGE MAN BELIEVES IN EDUCATION, THE RICH DON’T
To the average man, you can only become rich by going to school, graduating with good grades so that you can get a good job. The rich have a different ideology to getting wealth; they don’t believe that getting education is the formula to success, and you would observe that many of the world’s richest men didn’t even graduate from college. This is one point Robert Kiyosaki famously pointed out in his high selling book — rich dad, poor dad.
2. THEY SET HIGHER GOALS
The goals of the rich and those who aspire to be rich are far different from the average man. While the average man sets normal goals and targets, the rich set goals that would be unimaginable to the average man — their goals are higher than the norm.
3. THEY BELIEVE IN THE FUTURE
The rich man believes in and plans for the future, while the average man lives in today and plans for today or at most the nearest future. The rich could make plans for the next ten to twenty years, but the average has the next few months and years in view.
4. THE RICH LIVE LIKE THEY ARE POOR
While the average live like they are rich, the rich live like they are poor. You would agree with me that you have met one or two very rich men who don’t even look rich. A lot of rich men live normal lives, while the average try to live rich lives. This brings me to the next point.
5. THE RICH LIVE WITHIN THEIR MEANS
The rich live within their means while the average tend to live above their means which would make them run into debts or take loans to finance certain aspects of their lives.
6. THE RICH SPEND MONEY TO MAKE MONEY
While the average try to save money, the rich see money as an investment tool and magnet that attracts more money. The rich believe in investments and spend lots of money on investments than they do on luxury.
7. THE RICH DON’T PROCRASTINATE
The average might have an idea and keep procrastinating on when to implement it, but the rich value and implement their ideas on time. The rich write down their ideas and look for the best ways to implement it; they know ideas are priceless and hard to come by and they also know that procrastinating could make another person start it off.
8. THEY DIVERSIFY
The average man could become okay with having one business, but not the rich. The rich diversify their portfolio; they believe in having key chains of business in diverse areas of the economy.
You might think that Mark Zuckerberg and co would be satisfied with owning just Facebook, but Facebook has gone on to buy over 50 other companies including Whatsapp. Google is another example of a business that has gone on to diversify their portfolio.
9. THEY LEARN AND GET EDUCATED
The rich believe in education but in a different way. The rich learn about every business they are about to enter while the average just rush into a business. The rich educate themselves on key financial concepts, their business environment, the do’s and don’ts and potential opportunities and threats to the business.
10. THE RICH DON’T WAIT ON LUCK
A lot of average folks believe and wait for luck and they spend massive money in the long run to finance their quest for luck. But the rich believe that luck comes in working for that which you want rather than hopelessly believing in miracles without action.
