A healthy, glowing skin is exactly what everyone wants. Apart from the joy and feeling of youthfulness one can get from it, it is also a sign of healthy living. A great skin though is not gotten without some efforts and dedication from you. You must be extremely conscious of the way you treat it, in order for it to continue (or begin) to look great.

In this post, I’ll share with you some of those things we need to do (and not do) to get the best out of our skins.

1. SHIELD YOUR SKIN FROM SUNLIGHT

The sun is good for the skin sometimes (early morning sun), but it actually does more harm than good. The sun’s ultraviolet rays are very dangerous and can damage your skin if over exposed to it. Sometimes, it can even increase the risk of cancer. So, you must avoid the sun as much as you can. Seek shades when it’s very sunny, apply sunscreen to help protect it from the sun’s ultraviolet rays, and wear long-sleeved clothes if you have to.

2. TREAT YOUR SKIN MILDLY

The skin is very delicate and sensitive, so it requires gentle treatment for us to continue to keep it looking good. Such things as multiple baths per day may keep you clean, but they also endanger your skin. The skin produces natural oil to keep itself moisturized; bathing frequently wash away these oils, leaving the skin dry and exposed to wrinkle. Avoid bathing with soaps that have strong chemicals, as they tend to be harmful to the skin. Avoid using detergents for your baths, and remember to keep the skin oiled up always by applying moisturizers when it’s dry. Also avoid using very hot water for baths, they make you age faster. Use warm water Instead.

3. EAT PLENTY OF FRUITS

Research has proven that healthy food is not just good for your body, but also your skin. Fruits will keep your skin looking fresh, healthy and new because of the plenty amount of vitamin c they contain. They even help ward off scary diseases.

4. AVOID SMOKING

The nicotine content in cigarettes narrows the tiny blood vessels in the outermost layer of the skin, and this decreases blood flow, which in turn drastically reduces the oxygen level of the skin as well as nutrients that help keep it healthy. Smoking also destroys the skin’s collagen and elastin, and once this happens, wrinkles appear.

5. KEEP STRESS IN CHECK

Stress is not good for your skin, if you want it to be healthy. It encourages the breakout of Acne and other skin problems. Endeavour to get enough rest in between your busy schedules.

6. DRINK LOTS OF WATER

Plenty water in your body means you stay hydrated, and that rubs off well on your skin by leaving it fresh and soft.

7. AVOID TOUCHING YOUR FACE WITH AN UNWASHED HAND

Our hands pick up all manners of germs as we live through each day. When we use an unwashed palm to touch the face, we risk transferring harmful bacteria that can cause the skin on our face to be irritated.

8. WASH MAKEUP OFF YOUR FACE

It is not right to go to sleep with make up on your face. Those things are made from ingredients that can have a negative effect on the face if left there for too long. So always give your face a wash after a day of heavy makeup.

9. WASH YOUR BEDDING OFTEN

A dirty environment is a place where germs thrive. Germs are not good for your skin, so always make sure you keep your sleeping materials clean and safe from all manner of germs.

10. WASH YOUR MAKEUP BRUSHES

According to research, women’s makeup brushes gradually pick up dirts which also carry germs over time. When you continue to use the same brush without washing it, you risk transferring those germs to your skin. Wash your makeup brushes at least, twice each month. Use lukewarm water mixed with a few drops of shampoo or facial cleanser to wash your makeup brush.

11. REMEMBER TO CARE FOR THE WHOLE BODY

Sometimes, we focus on certain parts of our bodies, and forget to extend the same amount of care to all parts. When you care for only one part or some parts you expose other areas to wrinkle and germs. When you wash, wash every part of your body, when you apply moisturizers, remember every part, not just your face and neck.

Everyone wants to have a glowing skin, and with these tips, you can easily have that skin that you desire.
