A 2015 study claims use of mobile phones pose risk to human health after researchers found radiation from wireless devices such as phones and tablets could be linked to cancer and diseases of the brain such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.

The researchers from Indiana University, the University of Eastern Finland and the University of Campinas in Brazil also found that the radiation causes oxidation stress in the body.

Oxidation stress is a damaging process thought to be closely linked to degenerative diseases and the oxidation stress due to radio-frequency is thought to be the reason why use of wireless devices causes cancer. Long-term exposure is also linked to other minor disorders such as headache, fatigue and skin irritation.

Dr Igor Yakymenko from the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine told New York Daily News that using your phone for just 20 minutes a day for five years increases the risk of one type of brain tumor threefold and using the phone an hour a day for four years increases the risk for some tumors about three to five times.

The study was published in the journal Electromagnetic Biology and Medicine.
