SCIENCE CLAIMS CURVY WOMEN ARE MORE PRONE TO PAIN

Curvaceous women are more prone to pain than others according to science. The University of New Mexico researchers who carried out the research also claim that this attribute makes them appear more attractive to men.

The researchers believe curvy women’s sensitivity to pain is a sign of vulnerability and this helps them appear more attractive to men.

The study team took the measurements of 96 students and used these measurements to calculate the woman’s waist to hip ratios and the men’s shoulder to hip ratios.

While a woman’s low waist to hip ratio is often equated with beauty, a man with broad shoulders and narrow hips is normally considered as being handsome. Broad shouldered men are also considered to withstand more pain.

Lead researcher Jacob Vigil believes there is an explanation for this as he believes physically attractive women may have been more sheltered from painful events than less attractive women and may be more likely to experience sympathy from others.

This could also be explained to mean beautiful women may use their looks to seek attention when times are tough.

The study is published in the journal Human Nature.
