MEN SHOULD FREEZE THEIR SPERM AT AGE 18 TO REDUCE THE RISK OF HAVING A DISABLED CHILD, DOCTOR SAYS

suprised

A British expert, Dr Kevin Smith, a bioethicist at Abertay University in Dundee has called for men to consider freezing their sperm at the age of 18 to reduce the chance of having a disabled child.

Dr Smith believes this is necessary because the quality of a man’s sperm deteriorates with age.

Research also suggests that the risk of having a child with disorders such as autism and schizophrenia increases the older a father gets.

Dr Smith believes storing the sperm at age 18 ensures their sperm is of high quality when they are ready to be fathers.

Not everyone agrees with Dr Smith as fertility doctors accuse Dr Smith of promoting an unnecessary artificial approach to parenthood.

They said the risk of older fatherhood are small and do not kick in until well into the 40s.

Would you consider freezing your sperm?
