If you are a lover of high heels, you just need to read this. A study have found that injuries from wearing high heels are on the rise, especially among young women.

The University of Alabama at Birmingham study found that 123,335 high-heel related injuries were treated in emergency rooms in the US alone from 2002 to 2012 and the rate doubled during that 10-year span.

Injuries gotten from high heels include sprains and strains to the foot or ankle.

Half of the injuries gotten from wearing high heels surprisingly happened at home (not at work or out of town).

The researchers recommended you know about the risk of wearing high heels and if you must wear them, you should keep in mind how often you wear them and how long you’re standing when wearing them.

Wearing heels all day, every day can seriously weaken your ankle muscles, leaving you prone to injuries.

The study was published in the Journal of Foot and Ankle injuries.
