DO YOU BELIEVE IN SOUL MATES? YOU MIGHT NEVER GET TRUE LOVE

A soul mate is known as a romantic partner who complements one in every bit of the word; a soul mate is that perfect companion; a soul mate is one that can make you happy no matter what; a soul mate is that perfect relationship partner everyone hopes for.

But guess what? A recent research revealed that those who hope for a soul mate might never get true love.

A research in Journal of Experimental Psychology rejects the idea of a soul mate. The research says “the belief that significant others who mythicize their relationships as ‘fate’ are actually the unhappy and more likely to split”.

The study’s findings reveal that relationships where the partners see themselves as soul mates often bring unhappiness on the long term. However, it maintains that couples who understand that they are in a journey together and grow with the relationship in love and partnership have a better chance of survival.

Lead researcher Spike Lee recounted that this is an unrealistic way of viewing relationships because it brings the idea that the relationship would be free of conflict, and this can even lead to greater disappointment and dissatisfaction.

The idea behind this research is that people should grow in their relationship rather than look for a non-existent perfect soul mate.
