Self-doubt is a lack of confidence and belief in yourself; it’s that inner voice that tells you that you can’t make it, that you aren’t good enough and that you should quit.
If you can kill the doubts in your life, there is no limit to what you can achieve.
This is how you overcome self-doubt.
1. ACKNOWLEDGE THAT NO ONE IS PERFECT
Self-doubt could make you believe that some people are perfect, while you have so many flaws. It would leave you with so many insecurities while feeding your brain, that everyone apart from you is perfect.
2. STOP LOOKING FOR INSTANT SUCCESS
A major reason people have self-doubt is the crave for instant success. Good success takes time, work hard and stop looking for quick fixes.
3. SHARPEN YOUR SKILLS
The better you are in your given field, the easier it would to build your confidence. Work hard on yourself, build your skills in that given area and assure yourself that you are good enough.
4. SPEAK POSITIVE
When you wake up every morning, say to yourself that you are good enough, that you are wonderful; look at the mirror and say all the wonderful things about yourself — and believe them. When you speak positive things and believe them, you would have more belief in yourself than doubts.
5. SURROUND YOURSELF WITH POSITIVE PEOPLE
The people you surround yourself with highly matters. You can’t overcome self-doubt when you surround yourself with negative-minded people. Surround with people who are positive and who look at life in a positive way.
6. FORGET YOUR PAST FAILURES
Don’t judge yourself on your past failures; if you must look back at your past failures, it should be to learn from it. Don’t let the fear of failure make you have doubts in yourself; no matter how many times you fall, you should be ready to stand up tall again.
7. PEOPLE WOULD BELIEVE IN YOU WHEN YOU BELIEVE IN YOURSELF
It’s what you show people about you that they would actually believe. It’s easy for people to spot your confidence and lack of it, and they would treat you thus.
When people believe that you are confident in yourself, they would believe in you too.
8. SEE SETBACK AS TEMPORARY
Don’t see setback as permanent, rather see them as temporary, and believe that it wouldn’t stop you from being who you want to be.
9. DON’T LET THE DOUBTS SETTLE IN
A doubt is a thought that’s trying to convince you into believing that you are not good enough. If you give doubts a chance, it would make you lower yourself than who you really are.
Don’t let the doubts settle in your mind and don’t listen to it.
A quote by Shakespeare reads: “Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win, by fearing to attempt.”
