A bulk of one’s money is spent on shopping; shopping for groceries, clothes and a host of other things. We just have to buy right?

However, you can save money on shopping, no matter your income level — and saving money from shopping will add a significant boost to your finance.

This is how you can do that:

1. PLAN AHEAD

Don’t just wake up one morning and decide to go shopping; that’s a risky way to spend your money. Always plan ahead. At the end of every month, calculate how much you can use on shopping from your income, and designate an amount for shopping.

This might seem ordinary, but you’ll save a lot of money when you do this.

2. ALWAYS HAVE A SHOPPING LIST

Create a shopping list of things you need to buy beforehand; this will help guide you and keep you in check. You’d end up saving a lot of money when you do this, and you’d spend so much when you don’t have a shopping list.

3. AVOID IMPULSE PURCHASE

Avoid impulse buying; you’d spend so much on impulse purchases when you don’t have a shopping list, and impulse money accounts for a lot of money spent on unnecessary items. Many people lose money on impulse purchases, but they don’t know this.

4. SHOP MONTHLY

The more times you shop, the more money you spend (whether you know this or not), and the more prone you are to impulse purchasing. Shopping once or at most twice in a month will save you tons of money. Buying in bulk as well will save you loads of money.

5. CHOOSE A BUDGET FRIENDLY STORE

Choose a store that’s budget friendly; some big name stores tend to sell on the high side. However, there are so many stores that are budget friendly; shopping in these stores will save you a lot.

6. CHECK FOR SALES

A lot of the times people don’t take advantage of sales offer. Many stores tend to slash prices at various times; take advantage of these sales offers and save money.

7. NEGOTIATE

There are some items that you could beat the price if only you negotiate. Try to negotiate if possible; you’d be surprised at how much you will save when you do this.

8. EXPAND YOUR SHOPPING HORIZON

Don’t just remain stuck when it comes to shopping; things will pass you by. Consider other options that can save you a lot of money, consider shopping online, consider where else you can get better prices and if what you want to buy can’t fit in your budget consider buying other alternatives.

Shopping takes a lot from your purse, and you might not notice this most times. These tips will help you save money on shopping.
