8 WAYS TO FIGHT LAZINESS IN YOUR LIFE

lazy person

Laziness is a mental state that makes a person lack the energy or desire to perform tasks that they ought to.

Laziness can have diverse effects on a person and can lead to negative consequences, and it’s important to know that a lazy person can never be successful.

So how can one fight laziness?

1. DEVELOP THE RIGHT ATTITUDE

Laziness comes as a result of a negative attitude towards work or any work-related activity. The first step to curbing laziness is in the mind; develop your mindset and fill it with the right attitude and you’d overcome laziness.

2. HATE LAZINESS

Have a hatred for laziness; see it for what it is. When you see laziness as failure, poverty, stagnation, as being a disappointment and as ignorance, you’d get yourself up and do what’s required of you.

There is no reason to sugarcoat laziness; call it what it really is.

3. STOP PROCRASTINATING

Procrastination is a form of laziness but many people don’t know this. Stop procrastinating and always have this in mind — the best time to do the task is now.

4. DIVIDE HARD TASKS INTO BITS

The volume of a task is what makes people lazy sometimes; try to divide tasks into bits and you’d become better motivated to finish it off little by little.

5. ALWAYS BEAR IN MIND THE CONSEQUENCES OF LAZINESS

There’s always a consequence for laziness; if you don’t read, you won’t pass. If you don’t clean up, you could become smelly. If you are too lazy wash your bedspread, you could get an infection. If you don’t take your hygiene serious, you could fall ill. If you don’t do your work, you could get sacked.

For every act of laziness comes with it a consequence; always have this in mind and you’d find yourself performing the required tasks.

6. REMOVE DISTRACTIONS

A lot of the times laziness is caused by distractions — social media, television, games etc. Find what’s distracting you from being focused and do away with it.

7. SET DEADLINES

Have deadlines for each task and take the deadline serious. Deadlines will give you additional motivation to complete a task.

8. VISUALISE THE TASK BEING COMPLETED

Visualise that you have completed the task and how accomplished you’d feel when this has been done. This could stimulate you into thinking positively and make you motivated to do what’s required of you.

Always remember that laziness is an enemy of progress and success, and it makes you a worse version of yourself.
