To be a good husband, you ought to have certain characters (good ones), and to be a terrible husband means you have some bad characters that would never allow the love in your marriage grow.
For a marriage to be successful, certain characters should be far away from both couples, else the marriage would never be a happy one.

1. THE SELF-CENTERED MAN
The self-centered man would put himself first before his wife and his children; he would rarely make sacrifices for the betterment of the marriage. Such a man would never make a good husband; self-centeredness is one trait that should be far from your marriage — any man that’s self-centered would hardly ever make the right decision, and he would definitely have an unhappy wife and home.
2. MR ALWAYS RIGHT
Some men have this belief that their wives should always listen to them and never the other way round. To them the man’s voice is the voice of God and they’re always right no matter what. A marriage is called a union and not a one-man show. Any man who acts or believes that he’s always right would never make a good husband; such a man would blame his wife for everything and never take the blame for anything.
3. THE VIOLENT MAN
It doesn’t go without mentioning this; a violent man would NEVER make a good husband. A violent man lacks self-control and such a man can go to the extent of giving his wife inhumane treatments. A woman would never feel safe with such a man, and spending the rest of her life with him would mean living a life filled with terror.
4. THE DISRESPECTFUL MAN
Every wife ought to have the respect of her man. A man who disrespects his wife would treat her unfairly at home and also treat her badly outside the home. A marriage to such a man would only bring sadness and bitterness to the woman.
5. THE MAN WHO CAN’T KEEP HIS PANTS DOWN
The man who chases anything in skirt is one of the most terrible husbands a woman would ever have. A marriage with such a man would lack trust and breed jealousy, it would lack understanding and build suspicion; it would lack care and love and breed fights, hurt, disappointments and arguments. Any marriage built on such foundations would never be a happy one.
6. THE INCONSIDERATE MAN
There is nothing as lovely as getting married to a considerate and understanding man. An inconsiderate man is just as terrible as the self-centered or probably even worse; he would never make compromises but expect his wife to, he would never see things from his wife’s point of view but expect his wife to see things from his point of view. The inconsiderate man would be careless about the feelings and emotions of his wife and he would probably never bother.
It’s true that no man is perfect and there is no such thing as a perfect husband; however, it’s important that every man strive to be a good husband and set examples that would be worthy of emulation. These six types of men mentioned above would hardly ever leave good examples.
