Every woman who deems her health important should have periodic checkups to know the condition of her body and if it’s susceptible to certain risks.

You don’t have to wait till you are terribly ill before going for a check-up; these are some tests every woman should have.

1. MAMMOGRAM

It’s very important for every woman to know the health condition of her breast. From 20, every woman should have her breasts checked every three years and this should be done annually from 40.

Breast cancer is on the high among women and it’s important to get checked from an early stage. Also, if you notice any irregular or abnormal changes in your breast, you should go to your doctor to be examined.

2. BMI

Body mass index is also another important test every woman should have. This test helps indicate obesity which can assess the risk of diabetes and other serious health conditions like heart disease.

3. CERVICAL CANCER

Cervical cancer is mostly common in women between the ages 30-35, but it’s also important that this test is done beforehand.

This test involves taking a small sample from your cervix to check for any abnormal cells that could cause cervical cancer.

For women between 25 – 48, this test should be done every three years, and for women 50 and above, it should be done every five years.

4. CHOLESTEROL CHECK

Cholesterol check is also important for women, as this test would help decrease your risk of heart diseases.

5. BONE TEST

Bone test is another important test that many women don’t pay enough attention to. Osteoporosis poses a great risk in old age, and your bone health is important after menopause.

6. SKIN EXAMINATION

Skin examination is also important to check for the early signs of skin cancer. From 20, women should meet a dermatologist for checkups and examination.

 

Your health is priceless and shouldn’t be treated with complacency. Research has found that almost half of people in their thirties are at an increased risk of illness and bad health later in life.
