6 SIGNS YOUR LIVER IS UNHEALTHY

The liver is that part of the human body charged with the responsibility of performing certain important functions, which includes, filtering the blood coming from the digestive tract before passing it to the rest of the body, detoxifying chemicals and metabolizing drugs. The liver also makes proteins important for blood clotting and other functions.

Now, from the functions it performs, I’m sure you now know that the liver is an important organ, and without it, a lot can go wrong in a human’s life.

But how can one tell when the liver isn’t in a good condition? Well, I’m sure you’ll find the following symptoms of a bad liver helpful.

 

1. NAUSEA AND SERIOUS WEIGHT LOSS

If you notice that you get sick too often, coupled with serious weight loss, this could be a sign that your liver isn’t working properly. A bad liver causes nausea and emaciation.

2. PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR URINE AND POO

When your liver gets bad or starts to head in that direction, it shows in your pee and poo, so you should look out for any change in their usual colours. If your urine isn’t colourless, pale or yellowish, it means that something is wrong, and you need to consult the doctor ASAP. And if your poo is yellowish or gray in colour it could also be a sign of a bad liver, so you should get yourself checked.

3. SEVERE HEADACHES

Headaches are normal sometimes because of stress, but if it becomes too frequent, and comes even without you doing any hard work; you know, the splitting type? You should definitely get yourself checked.

4. DO YOU BRUISE EASILY?

Bruising easily isn’t always because you have a ‘soft and tender’ skin, sometimes, it’s because your liver is not in great shape. Bruising easily can be caused by inadequate clotting, which is one of the jobs of a healthy liver.

5. JAUNDICE

Jaundice is a condition usually characterized by yellowing of the skin, eyes and the lining of the inside of parts of the body, such as the mouth and nose (mucous membrane), pale-coloured stools and dark-coloured urine. If you develop these symptom, it’s very possible you have a bad liver.

6. FREQUENT STOMACH CRAMPS

If you keep feeling frequent pains in your stomach, that hurt pretty bad, and won’t go away for a while, it’s a possible sign of an unhealthy liver.
