I always find this quote by Socrates amazing: “By all means marry. If you get a good wife, you’ll become happy; if you get a bad one, you’ll become a philosopher.”
This quote just only shows the importance of being a good wife, and why many men would kill to have a good wife.
So, what qualities would make a woman a good wife?
1. SHE’S AN ORGANISER
A good wife ought to be a good organiser; when a woman is organised, the home would be organised as well, and when she’s disorganised then the home might suffer. Her organisation skills wouldn’t just end at keeping the home neat and tidy, but her organisation would also be needed in the finances and every other thing revolving around the home.
2. SHE’S A LOVER
A good wife should love her man genuinely. Many women enter a marriage without really loving the man, but a good wife is a genuine lover. It’s almost impossible to be a good wife when you don’t even love the man you call husband.
3. SHE’S A FRIEND
A good wife isn’t just a lover, but she’s a friend. She tries to build friendship with her man, and this would help foster communication and oneness. A good wife recognises that it’s important to build friendship with her man.
4. SHE’S MATURE
An immature woman can hardly ever make a good wife. A good wife knows her role and tries her best to play it well; she tries not to be the nagging wife and tries to solve problems without throwing tantrums.
5. SHE’S SUPPORTIVE
A good wife should be to a man what a cheerleader is to a basketball team; in good or bad times, she should be her man’s cheerleader and number one fan and she should be the woman who supports her husband through thick and thin.
6. SHE’S REALISTIC
Many women these days look for a fairy-tale marriage and a perfect prince charming, but a good wife is realistic. She understands that it would take work and commitment to make the marriage work thoroughly and she recognises that there’s no perfect partner. She gives in her best for the marriage while understanding all these other things.
Being a good wife goes beyond the superficial things and being a good wife is a strength that every good man should appreciate.
