A lot of people see gambling as a means of making quick money; but is gambling really a means of making money? The answer is no. A lot of lives have been ruined due to the addictive nature of gambling; gambling is highly addictive and can cause you more pains than gains.

I once did an article why you shouldn’t see gambling as a means of making money. Now, I’d share with you some gambling losses that would show you that gambling is more of a means for you to lose money rather than to make money.

1. KENYAN MAN BETS HIS WHOLE POULTRY FARM, LOST IT AND THEN WAGERED HIS WIFE

According to africanspotlight.com, a Kenyan man in his early 40s, who doubles up as a farmer and a transporter became so addicted to gambling that his chickens, his cart, his son’s school fees, his household items and even the proceeds from his business was lost to gambling. When he lost everything to gambling, he decided to gamble his wife as well; I’m sure you would also guess that he lost the bet.

After losing some bets, he put his cart up for sale, and according to africanspotlight.com, his wife had this to say: “He must have been rather mad because he finally offered his cart in one last gamble hoping he would win back what he had lost. It is as if he was possessed or had been bewitched.”

2. BUSINESSMAN, TERRENCE WATANABE LOST A FORTUNE ON GAMBLING

Terrence Watanabe

Terrence Watanabe, a Nebraska businessman, lost over $127 million at Caesars Palace and the Rio in 2007. He had a $17 million credit limit with Caesars and would play three hands of Blackjack at the same time for $50,000 per hand. He lost a fortune and claimed that Caesars plied him with vodka and painkillers to keep him from realising how much he was gambling and losing.

3. KENYAN MAN BETS HIS WEDDING MONEY AND LOST

Kenya News Agency (KNA) witnessed an incident in which a lady deserted her husband-to-be because he placed a bet using their wedding money and lost. According to KNA, She said that she could not marry a man who would not consult her before gambling with a whole Shs.50,000 in a mere game which he had no surety of winning.

The angry fiancée also revealed that in the previous month, he used their rent money to gamble, making them dig deep into their pockets again to pay the rent.

4. ZHENIL YE GON LOST A REPORTED $120 MILLION OVER THE YEARS GAMBLING AT THE VENETIAN IN LAS VEGAS

Zhenli-Ye-Gon

Chinese-Mexican businessman Zhenil Ye Gon lost a reported $120 million over the years gambling at the Venetian in Las Vegas. The businessman often played $150,000 per hand in Baccarat. The businessman lost woefully that the casino gave him a Rolls Royce for free.

5. ARSENAL FAN LOST HIS HOUSE ON A BET HE PLACED

A Gunners fan, Henry Dhabasani staked his two-roomed house in Iganga, in Eastern Uganda. Well, he lost his house in the bet. More surprising was his friend’s bet; the Man.United fan believed that his team would come out winners and bet his new Toyota Premio car and his wife. You got to be kidding me!

The great Albert Einstein was quoted as saying, “The only way to beat Roulette is to steal the money when the dealer’s not looking.” Indeed, gambling shouldn’t be seen as a means of making money.
