5 WAYS TO OVERCOME A BAD MOOD

A quote by Johnny Depp reads: “Breath. It’s a bad day not a bad life.”

Unfortunately, a lot of people have let a bad situation, a bad event and a bad mood ruin their entire day, and some let it go as far as ruining their weeks, months and even life.

You can beat a bad mood by doing this:

1. DON’T THINK ABOUT IT

When you recognise you are in a bad mood or you have experienced a situation you don’t like that has soured your mood, your brain will trick you into being dull and will prompt you to expect more bad things. Your brain will send a signal to you that you just have to be unhappy.

But the truth is, you don’t have to be unhappy; try not to think about the event and you’d be surprised that you’ll be in control of your mood.

2. KEEP BUSY

You’d find it difficult to remember that something has spoilt your mood when you are very busy. When you are busy, your brain will be focused and won’t have the opportunity to think about the sad event. Keep your mind and brain busy.

3. DO SOMETHING NICE FOR SOMEONE

This might seem counterintuitive but it’s one of the easiest ways to make yourself happy when having a bad day. During a bad day, you might feel that you need someone to make you happy but you don’t. Do something nice for someone, put a smile on someone’s face, and you’d be surprised at how you will feel lifted by knowing that you have the power to make someone else happy.

4. TAKE CONTROL

You can take control of your mood if you want to. Make a conscious effort to be in charge of your mood and in charge of your day. Take control and decide that you won’t let small things bother you, because at the end of the day they are all small things, even though they might seem huge at the moment. How do I know this? Take a look back at your life some years ago, you’d remember that something bothered you at one point in time. Analyse that situation and you’ll observe that it got solved on its own or you just let it go.

So you have the power to take control, only if you want to.

5. ASK YOURSELF QUESTIONS

Ask yourself certain questions like: Why am I being bothered? What will my bad mood do to help my life? Will my bad mood spoil my day? Can I try to be happy?

When you try to answer these questions, you’d know that having a bad mood is just a waste of time.

You too can overcome a bad mood, but do you?
