Some men can’t stand having a partner that has achieved a significant level of success, especially when it’s a landslide from theirs. Some men even carry such traits into their marriage.
While I’ve met a number of men who frown at having a richer spouse, some who go on to settle down with that ‘more successful spouse’ act in ways that shouldn’t be appreciated. Such actions could mostly be attributed to low self-esteem, as some men marry or date richer women but still don’t get carried away.
Below are some of the traits some men exhibit when they are with a supposedly more successful woman:
1. HE SOMETIMES DOUBT YOUR LOVE
Even when the more successful woman does everything to show that her love is genuine, such a man would still have doubts. What causes the doubts are his insecurities and his mind making him believe you ought to be with someone else — someone better than him. So he capitalises on the slightest mistake to express his doubt.
2. POSSESSIVE
Such a man is also scared of competition; he sees himself as a second class competitor, so he tries to be possessive. He would want to know her every movement, call at odd times and try to be in the loop of everything she does, every person she sees and everywhere she goes.
3. JEALOUS
He’s also quick to being jealous, even when he ought not to be. He gets jealous of the slightest call from another man, he gets jealous when you are friends with a male colleague at work; he gets jealous of anything that signals competition to him.
4. TRIES TO BE DOMINEERING
Men with such thinking that their woman is better than them also try to be domineering. The male ego in them comes to the fore; they don’t want to be dominated by a woman, so they try to be intimidating in a bid to subdue the woman. Such a man would try to place restrictions on the woman’s movement, use even physical force on her, bark out instructions and all manner of things. Such acts are just a cover-up of his perceived inabilities.
5. HE’S OVER SUSPICIOUS
He also suspects anything and everything. He could suspect your female friend that she’s giving you negative advises or is a bad influence on you, suspect your every activity, suspect when you have a male friend and even suspect your work. His insecurities are at fore here, so he becomes overly suspicious of everything.
Having a man with second class mentality could be quite a daunting task; no matter what you do and how you do it, he never gets satisfied.
