5 REASONS YOU AND YOUR PARTNER SHOULD HAVE A SAVINGS CULTURE

couple planning savings & retirement

Having a savings culture is very important, and surprisingly it’s one culture that a lot of people shy away from.

Savings is good for everyone and it’s also good for marriage partners. Couples that live on the ‘spend it as it comes’ basis could experience a lot of hitches in future.

Do you have a savings culture with your partner? If you feel there is little or no need to build a savings culture, the following tips might help influence you:

1. PLAN AHEAD

You probably can’t achieve everything you want at once, but when you have an income, you can save towards so many things. You can even save ahead of time for a lot of things like your kids schooling, a new house or car or for anything that’s deemed worthy by you and your partner. When you save way ahead of time, you feel secure and it makes things easier when that time comes rather than you running helter-skelter.

2. COULD START A BUSINESS FOR YOUR PARTNER

In some cases, one partner might have a well-paying job and the other wouldn’t; if this is the case, it could bring a world of good if they save towards opening a supposed business for the other partner. Entrepreneurs rule the world they say; a lot of businesses have started on this note and they grew on to be highly profitable.

3. COULD SAVE TO START A BUSINESS TOGETHER IN THE FUTURE

Sometimes couples have dreams together, they have what amazes them and what they both share interest in. Saving together to start that dream business would bring a lot to that couple. Moreover, even if there isn’t a dream business, there isn’t anything wrong if couples come together and save to start up a business — two good heads are better than one. The best way to plan towards retirement is having a business that would still be recouping funds even when you aren’t working.

4. COULD EVEN HELP BUILD UNDERSTANDING

Couples do better when they share a lot of things together, do things together, are involved with each other, share in each other’s dreams, as well as have same dreams. Having a savings culture with your partner could help foster the understanding in that union.

5. FOR UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES

No one knows what would happen in the future; we can’t even predict tomorrow — unforeseen circumstances are one of the harsh realities of life, and there is probably one thing we can do to curtail the impact of such circumstances — save. Savings could act as a back-up plan when the main plan flops; without it, unforeseen circumstances might just get the better of you.

Having a savings culture wouldn’t bring any harm to you and your partner, but it can save you from a lot of negatives.
