Good work ethics are a must, but not many employees see the need for having good work ethic. Many employees have nonchalant approach to work and many believe work ethics should only be shown by the top managers with fat pay cheque.
Below are some reasons why every employee should have good work ethics.
1. EMPLOYERS SEEK IT
Every employer wants their employees to have good work ethics at all times, whether they are being monitored or not. To the employer, good work ethic is part and parcel of the job.
2. YOU PROMISED IT
Many employees are unaware of this, but they promised good work ethics directly or indirectly during the job interview. Many prospective employees write good qualities of themselves on their CV that show good work ethic, many employees also say so during an interview or put up body language that reveal so. At the end of the day, whether you are aware of this or not, you promised good work ethics during your interview.
3. YOU DERIVE SATISFACTION FROM IT
Many employees that exhibit good work ethics more often than not derive satisfaction from their work. When you always get the job done or the praise of your boss or the acknowledgement of a former boss, you get satisfaction from it.
There is this sense of satisfaction you feel when you put in your best efforts at all times. A student who read for an exam would feel satisfied compared to the student who didn’t.
4. YOU DEVELOP YOURSELF
When you have good work ethics, consciously or unconsciously you develop and improve yourself with each passing day. For example, you exhibit a good work ethic in always coming early to work; you are indirectly building yourself into being a more disciplined person all round.
5. CAREER PROGRESSION
You get rewarded when you have good work ethics; your career progresses in the long run and your willingness to work never go unnoticed.
