Spending time alone is important but it’s a problem when you spend a lot of time alone. According to a research published in the journal Perspectives on Psychological Science, people lacking social connections risk dying early.

2. LACK OF SLEEP OR TOO MUCH OF IT

Lack of sleep or too much sleep can also shorten your lifespan. According to a research published in the journal Sleep, people who slept less than 7 hours every night increase their risk of dying by 12% and people who sleep more than 9 hours each night increased their risk of death by 30%.

3. YOU DON’T EAT SPICY FOODS

If you don’t eat spicy foods, you shorten your lifespan. According to a Chinese research published in BMJ, people who eat spicy foods 6 to 7 days a week had a 14% lower risk of death, compared with those who ate spicy foods less than once a week.

4. YOU SIT MORE AND STAND LESS

You risk shortening your lifespan if you sit more and stand less. According to study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, sitting more and standing less was associated with a greater risk for all types of death, ranging from increased risk of cardiovascular disease to type 2 diabetes.

5. REGULAR LONG COMMUTES

Due to the congestion in urban cities today, going to work could be draining due to the distance and traffic. According to a study published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine, long commutes were directly associated with decreased physical activity and elevated blood pressure. The study also shows that commuting more than 15 miles and commuting in congested traffic increases stress levels which also increased risk of fatigue, depression, anxiety and social isolation.
