BLINDNESS

Bleaching your skin cannot make you blind, however, allowing the cream or lotion get in contact with your eyes is dangerous, unhealthy, and could potentially cause blindness. This, according to research is a result of the hydroquinone agent used in making most of them.

 

HYPERTENSION AND ASTHMA

It sounds Impossible, but it isn’t. The body absorbs the things you put on your skin, including the harmful chemicals used in making some bleaching agents. When absorbed into the blood stream, some affect the heart; the primary agent of the body. This usually leads to other complications like Asthma, Hypertension etc.

 

MENTAL ILLNESS

According to health experts, most bleaching creams and lotions contain mercury, which happens to be a very dangerous agent. When one is overexposed to this agent, it is dangerous, and can potentially lead to mental illness.

 

DIABETES

A certain Canadian research company has suggested that the high level of hydroquinone and mercury in most bleaching agents can lead to diabetes if one is exposed to them for long. In other words, when you use these things for a long time, and your body continues to absorb them into the bloodstream, over time, you risk suffering diabetes. Stretch marks are also another side effect.

 

KIDNEY ISSUES

Using a bleaching agent for long damages the cells of the skin which are meant to protect in the first place. Continued use deteriorates the ability of the skin and body to fight diseases which could lead to one being down with a deadly health challenge like Kidney failure, etc.
