10 SIGNS YOU ARE SETTLING IN A NOT-SO-GOOD RELATIONSHIP

Settling in relationships that aren’t so good has become a norm in today’s world; to a lot of people, it’s better than nothing — but is it?

I’ve brought you reasons why you shouldn’t settle in a not-so-good relationship, now it’s time to know the signs that you are already settling in such a relationship.

1. NO TRUST

Trust is a basic element that every successful relationship should have; once it’s missing, certain things in the relationship would also be missing. Trust helps provide that sense of security that would make you relationship move smoothly. If you are settling in a relationship without trust, then that’s a not-so-good relationship.

2. LACK OF COMMUNICATION

The importance of communication should never be taken for granted in a relationship; if it’s lacking, then it’s no relationship at all. For a relationship to stand a chance of success, communication has to be paramount, and when it isn’t, your relationship is just as good as bad.

3. EXTERNAL CONTROL

External control could have a very bad effect in your relationship. When you have little influence over your partner, but external factors outside the relationship like colleagues at work, family, neighbours and friends have control over your partner, then you are settling in a relationship where success might only be in your dreams.

4. CONSTANT ABUSE AND FIGHTING

If your relationship is the kind where you and your partner are always more at war than in peace, you have every reason to be careful. Such a relationship shows traits of a lack of respect and compatibility.

5. YOUR PERSONAL GROWTH IS TILTING BACKWARDS

Your relationship should make you grow and it should help you become a better person. But if your personal life is going backward or stagnating, then that relationship isn’t so good after all.

6. BLAME GAME

If your relationship is the kind where no one takes responsibilities but you both apportion blames, then such a relationship isn’t so good for you. This kind of relationship would only lead to the one mentioned in the 4th tip.

7. SECRECY

A relationship should be like an open book for partners; trust, communication and honesty should always flow in that relationship. But when secrecy is present, so many other things would go wrong.

8. LACK OF TRUST

Sometimes you might do everything to win your partner’s trust; you would be faithful to the core, honest and to some extent even let yourself be controlled by your partner, but your partner would still not trust you — there are so many people like these out there with very serious trust issues, and this kind of people hardly make good relationship partners.

9. A RELATIONSHIP WITHOUT EMOTIONAL INTIMACY

In a good relationship, emotional intimacy exists between partners, but in a not-so-good relationship, emotional intimacy is lacking. And when this is lacking, the romance and other intimate things would be lacking in the relationship.

10. AFFAIRS

If either of you is having an affair, then you put your relationship in a bad situation. An affair isn’t only sexual; an affair could also be emotional, and when any of you is having an affair, the relationship would definitely suffer.

Settling in a not-so-good relationship isn’t a very good option; if it’s not good enough, then it isn’t good at all.
