THIS IS WHY WOMEN FEEL MORE PAIN THAN MEN DURING BREAKUP

It’s common knowledge that women feel more pain than men during breakup but what we never knew was why.

Scientists believe that women actually suffer more emotionally than men when a relationship comes to an end. After being dumped, women are more likely to be angry, anxious and far more likely to put on weight than men.

But it’s really not all bad news for women because scientists also believe women bounce back faster than men.

While it’s so easy for men to feel good with being single again, it leaves them with resentment that can linger for years.

So what could really be the reason for this difference in the way men and women react when their relationship ends? Researchers from Binghamton University in New York believe the difference was due to biology, with women having more to lose by being with the wrong person – especially if they are hoping to start a family – but recovering better as they are more open with their feelings.

The researchers also found that women reported more anger, anxiety and fear after a breakup compared to men who felt more depressed and lost focus.

Craig Morris, a professor of anthropology at Binghamton University in New York and lead author of the study described the typical male reaction to breakups as ‘self-destructive’.

A total of 5,705 people from 96 countries were surveyed to arrive at these conclusions and the study was published in the journal Evolutionary Behavioral Sciences.
