Many people want to be in a serious / committed relationship and somehow end up in a relationship that’s a shadow of what they expect. Many can’t even tell if their relationship is actually a serious one.
According to a survey by relate.org.uk, 50% of the respondents cited ‘sharing problems’ as one of their top three signs of commitment. 44% even placed this higher than ‘being in an exclusive relationship’, while 39% placed it even higher than ‘getting married’.
Findings from this survey really makes sense. When couples share problems and look for solutions together, it shows seriousness and commitment — and any relationship without this is just taking a stroll in the park.
Other interesting findings from the survey include:
‘Of those in a relationship, one in ten (9%) said they argue with their partner most of the time, more often than not or all of the time and 15% said they regret being in their relationship occasionally, more often than not, most or all of the time. The top strains are money worries (24%), affairs (21%) and working long hours and lack of work-life balance (13%).’
Do you think you are in a serious relationship?
