Ladies, will you ditch your pants if you were told ditching them is the key to good health?

According to a MailOnline report, growing numbers of women are ditching their pants for health reasons.

Gemma Cromwell, 29, told MailOnline that she spent years wearing thongs to avoid visible panty line but stopped wearing pants after she got pregnant. She now only wears them during her period.

Vanessa Fernandez, 35, told MailOnline that she stopped wearing pants after getting a common vaginal infection.

After being cured of bacterial vaginosis, (a common vaginal infection that is not sexually transmitted but caused by overgrowth of bacteria), Vanessa stopped wearing pants to avoid the infection from coming back.

Aalia Chaudry, 45, stopped wearing pants but it wasn’t for health reasons. She told MailOnline that she wasn’t comfortable with the visible panty line and so she ditched wearing pants.

So what do the experts think?

“It would be better to wear no knickers than the wrong kind of knickers,” consultant gynaecologist Nicholas Raine-Fenning told MailOnline.

“Nylon knickers ought to come with a health warning. They’re only acceptable for a short period of time, being a high risk factor for irritation.

“Whatever you do, don’t wear them at night, when many women wish to have on some form of undergarment.

“Wear only loose, cotton garments, not tight or synthetic pants. If you must wear nylon underwear, please ensure it has a cotton gusset.”
