SMELLY FEET: CAUSE AND CURE

Smelly feet, also known as Bromodosis is a medical condition in which the feet produce an unbearable odour caused by the breakdown of sweat in the presence of bacteria. But apart from bacteria, fungal infections like Athlete’s foot can also cause Bromodosis.

Bromodosis is a unique condition, like Halitosis because it can be embarrassing, especially if you have to take off your shoes in public.

Despite the annoying and embarrassing nature of the condition though, the good thing is that it is very curable.

Now, let’s take a quick look at some of the ways Bromodosis can be treated.

The first way to get rid of smelly feet is by regularly cleaning and washing the feet. Some people do not wash their feet thoroughly after engaging in physical activity. This leaves room for bacteria to thrive. Also if you’re in the habit of not washing or getting a bathe after work, especially if you do not use socks, you might be doing yourself more harm than good. Using socks stops you from sweating too much in the feet, and when you do, it wouldn’t have that much damaging effect on you.

Another way of reducing or eliminating the threat of smelly feet is by applying anti-perspirants like Roll- on, etc. The smell would reduce any foul one, and reduce sweating.

Practicing proper hygiene is the best way in short. Bathe regularly, wash and scrub your body when you do, dry yourself very well before you get into your shoes, and use cologne. If you do the aforementioned, you should be fine.
