THIS IS WHY SCIENTISTS WANT YOU TO SLEEP NAKED

According to an international study by the U.S. National Sleep Foundation, one in three adults sleep in the nude and it’s been shown to have all sorts of benefits. Ditching pyjamas could improve your sleep quality, boost your relationship and may even help burn calories according to experts.

Sleeping naked means you are going to have a good night’s rest because your body (or ‘core’) temperature needs to drop by about half a degree for you to fall asleep. The advantage of sleeping naked is it’s easier for the body to cool and maintain the lower temperature the brain wants to achieve. So if you go to bed with lots of bedclothes, you should ditch it because it’s going to be more difficult to regulate your temperature, so wear the least you can get away with.

Researchers found that sleeping in a cold bedroom could activate brown fat in adults according to a U.S. study in the journal Diabetes.  It’s important these brown fats are activated as brown fat seems to burn excess calories to generate heat.

Sleeping naked also gives your love life a boost. According to a survey of 1,000 British adults by a bed sheet company this year, people who sleep naked have happier love lives. Sleeping naked helps those with body image issues too and thereby improve their love life. Sleeping naked may increase the chances of sex.

Sleeping naked also helps against infection. Sleeping naked can help women avoid developing yeast infections, such as thrush. Thrush loves warm, restricted environments so it’s advisable you sleep naked. You are also more likely to sweat when you wear something tight to bed because less air gets to the area which can cause irritation.
