SIGNS YOUR RELATIONSHIP IS ON THE VERGE OF…

Breakups are a part of dating. This is of course not to say that every relationship is destined to end up awfully, sometimes, they do turn out to be everything we want them to, but the truth is there could be a breakup if the relationship isn’t right. It’s a sad reality, but we have to know and understand it.

However, this post is not all about breaking bad news; it’s mostly about educating you on how you can tell when something isn’t right anymore in your relationship. It may seem difficult, but it is very possible to be able to know when your relationship is suffering, and is edging towards the end, all it takes is closer observation and attention. So let’s quit running in circles, and cut to the chase, shall we?

ATTENTION DEFICIT

One sure hallmark of a blossoming relationship is that there’s lots of attention going both ways. The man appreciates his woman enough to know when she’s going through a rough patch, and he’s always there when she needs him, as much as she is for him. The moment there’s a tiny drop in the attention level, it’s a clear sign that something isn’t right. Sometimes, it’s not going to lead to a break up if it’s noticed and saved quickly, but unless that happens, it’ll gradually eat into the relationship, and before you realise it, things are beyond salvaging.

THE LITTLE EFFORTS ARE NO LONGER THERE

There’ll be fights in a relationship because it’s normal for that to happen, after all, we’re humans, but the difference between a healthy and a potentially long – lasting relationship, and a troubled one is the efforts put into keeping it alive. When those sacrifices and compromises stop happening, and you suddenly don’t want to fight to save the relationship because you think you’re tired of it all, that’s when things edge towards the end.

THE DEEP CONVOS TURN TO SMALL TALK

A couple that’s happy and want to continue to be together will talk deeply about each other’s feelings and goals every now and then. It obviously can’t happen all the time, but it’d happen because it’s a sign that you still find each other important enough to care about their feelings and future. When this type of conversation becomes substituted with small talk, things are not okay.

THE NEED TO ‘TAKE A BREAK’

This, I’m sure you’d already know. If things are healthy and you’re happy with each other, there’d be no need to stay apart from each other. The moment you feel like you should take a break or they mention it, it’s simply because they’re no longer excited by you. This is often the last sign. Before it gets to this point, all other signs would have played out.
