You’ve probably seen a couple of interesting facts and information about your breasts from this site and others, but there are no harm in learning more, are there? So take a look at these facts I just put together.
1. There’s a group, an Ngo that fights for women’s right to be topless. They are US-based, and have a website, GoTopless.org, where they promote their fight for women to go public bare-chested. They also claim that women have the constitutional right to do that, just like men.
2. No two breasts are the same, one is usually bigger, and most of the time, it’s the left one— although the difference is often too slight to notice. The same applies to the nipples.
3. The breasts are the first thing a man notices when he sees a woman. This is according to a research by the Victoria University of Wellington.
4. Men can also lactate. It is rare, but very real. This is because men also possess mammary glands like women, so they can produce milk too, however a rarity like that can only occur because of treatment of hormonal disorders like cancer.
5. The average breast of a woman weighs about 1 pound, and contributes 1% of her entire body weight.
6. Breasts get fat. As a young woman, your breasts are made up of milk glands, fat and collagen (a connective tissue that keeps them firm). However, as you get older, the milk and collagen are replaced by fat, and instead of your boobs looking firmer, they become flappy.
7. Women who perform breast augmentation are more likely to be suicidal. According to a 2007 report, The Annals of plastic surgery, it’s not certain if silicon toxicity is responsible for this, however, it’s more likely that women who have gone under the knife for breast augmentation are apt to have an underlying psychiatric problem that predisposes them to suicide.
8. Breast implants can save you from death. Years ago, a woman who had just gotten breast implants miraculously survived an attack by a Lebanese paramilitary group. She was wounded in the chest by shrapnel, but she survived, even though her implants were destroyed.
9. Breast implants are the number one surgery in the US. More than 2 million women request the procedure each year. The average age that women get implants in the US is 34 years.
10. In Hong Kong, bra studies is a course. You can study it and get a degree at the end of the required period.
