HOLDING YOUR PEE ISN’T GOOD FOR YOUR HEALTH

holding pee, urine

When watching an interesting movie, chatting with friends, going through work e-mails or just avoiding the horrors of a public restroom, the urge to pee isn’t one of your priorities but is this habit of holding your pee harmless?

Ignoring the urge to pee can do serious damage to your bladder as holding in your urine for a long period of time can stretch your bladder.

Holding your pee also makes your bladder become a breeding ground for bacteria to grow and this can lead to infections which can spread to kidneys and cause greater damage to the body.

Holding your pee for long periods of time could make you develop long-term urinary tract symptoms like frequent and painful urination.

Women are more likely to hold their urine due to hygiene concerns and this is understandable but it’s also important to make sure you get to the toilet to avoid the ills of holding your pee.
