ARE YOU A PERPETUAL LATECOMER? USE THESE SEVEN TIPS TO OVERCOME LATENESS

Some people have become so used to lateness to the extent that they just don’t know how to be early; being early have now become a burden to the extent that they have given up.

Remember, you pass across a terrible image of yourself when you are a chronic latecomer.

These seven tips will make you use your time better.

1. SEE LATENESS AS AN ASSASSINATION OF CHARACTER

See lateness for what it is – an assassination of character. You kill your good reputation whenever you come late; you can’t have a good reputation when you are a chronic latecomer. People are watching you but you don’t know, and some people might be looking up to you and you wouldn’t know.

You ought to understand that it’s more difficult to turn a bad image to a good one than the other way around.

2. DO THE BASICS

To overcome lateness, you must go back to the basics: Early to bed and early to rise, have a to-do list to keep you organised, do some things that you can do the previous night to save your time the following morning etc. Doing the basics matter a lot.

3. SEE TIME AS MONEY

Time is money, but people don’t understand this concept because they don’t see it physically. Time lost can never be regained, and every second is an opportunity to add value, and it’s an opportunity to do something tangible. See your time as something very precious and you’ll overcome lateness.

4. PUT HASTE IN EVERYTHING

Put haste in everything you do; bath quickly, dress up quickly, walk quickly – have a sense of urgency from the moment you wake up. The reason for your chronic lateness is because you lack a sense of urgency.

5. BE EARLY

If you have an appointment for 8am, bear it in mind to be there by 7:45am. By so doing, even if you get 5 minutes late, you’ll still be early.

6. DO IT AGAIN

With these tips, you’ll meet up time and be early for whatsoever thing you want. But then, it isn’t something you’ll do once; it’s a habit that should be continued.

7. ANALYSE YOUR DAY

Try to analyse your day; know your strength and then know where you spend way too much time. If from your analysis, you spend more time on bathing and dressing up, you’d know that you have to either learn to bath and dress up quicker or you should wake up earlier.

When you learn to overcome lateness, you’d see that you’d have more zeal for success and you’d be more focused.
