9 WAYS TO BE A REAL FRIEND

Friendship is pure when it’s real, true and genuine. We’ve seen cases where people’s lives were ruined by their friends and we’ve also seen cases where people’s lives got lifted because they were with the right friends.

You’re either a true friend or a bad friend, there’s no sitting on the fence. These tips will help you be a real friend:

1. YOU ARE THERE DURING BAD TIMES

A real friend doesn’t just share in the bad times but the good times as well. A real friend is present even at times others won’t.

2. YOU ARE CONSISTENT

A good friend is consistent. Good friendship is marked by consistency, not being here today and there tomorrow. But being there every time.

3. BE A GOOD LISTENER

A good friend listens and pays attention; a good friend doesn’t only care about his own plight but listens to that of their friend and take genuine interest.

4. HONESTY

A good friend is honest and wouldn’t deceive or lie to their friend for any reason. True friendship is built on honesty.

5. LOYAL

True friends stay loyal to each other no matter what. They go through hard times together and their friendship comes out stronger.

6. INTEREST IN BUILDING UP

A real friend wants what’s best for you and is interested in building you up to make it happen. Real friendship is all about growth and development; if you aren’t helping that person grow, then the basis for friendship is flawed.

7. ISN’T AFFECTED BY CLASS AND STATUS

When a friendship is real, even class and status doesn’t affect it and there’s a genuine interest in helping each other to the top.

8. DOESN’T KEEP GRUDGES

Real friends forgive easily and move on; they don’t hold on to grudges. Malice and unnecessary quarrels shouldn’t be found in a real friendship and even when it happens, it shouldn’t last long.

9. HATE AND ENVY

A real friendship is devoid of hate and envy. True friends don’t envy each other; rather, they are happy for each other.
