In many homes, the romance tends to die when kids start coming; but it shouldn’t be so. Kids should be a blessing to the home and not divide couples apart.

Both partners are responsible for keeping the romance alive even after the babies start coming. These tips below would help.

1. NO ONE SHOULD BE CHEATED

To keep the romance alive, both partners have to work and not leave the other to do everything. With babies and kids come a lot of responsibilities, and when all the chores are being left for one partner, that partner would start feeling cheated.

It usually starts with the feeling of being cheated; this could create a divide between both partners and in turn kill the romance.

2. DO THINGS TOGETHER

Doing things together is a good way to keep the romance alive. Togetherness would make you and your partner fond of each other, and that’s all it takes to keep the romance alive.

3. PRIORITIZE DATE NIGHTS

Date nights should never be joked with; couples who take date nights seriously tend to have a better marriage. Having regular date nights would keep the fire burning and make you and your partner fond of each other and more in love with each other.

4. MAKE TIME FOR SEX

Sex is still important; when your sex life starts to suffer, your romance would gradually become affected. With babies coming in, it’s so easy to forget about sex; but this isn’t healthy. Still create time for sex, and watch your romance come alive.

5. SPOIL EACH OTHER

When couples start having kids, they tend to spoil their kids and shower them with love and affection, and then forget to do so for each other. That’s totally wrong.

Spoil each other with gifts and treats; shower each other with love and affection. Never joke with this tip; things like this would remind you why you fell in love with each other.

6. BE A DAD/MUM AND A HUSBAND/WIFE

You have a role as a parent and you also have a role to play as spouses; don’t play your role as a parent and forget to play your role as a husband/wife.

7. FLIRT WITH EACH OTHER

Flirting isn’t for unmarried couples alone; don’t forget to flirt with each other, look sexy for each other and entice each other. Maintaining that desire even after having kids would go a long way in keeping the romance alive.

8. BE ON THE SAME PARENTING PAGE

Don’t see each other as a competition; it’s things like these that cause troubles between couples, and this would eventually kill the romance.

Try to be on the same parenting page, work as a team, understand each other and iron out differences on time — and watch your romance spike.

It’s important to keep the romance alive because once it dies, so many other things would suffer. The success of a home depends on this; plus your kids are also watching; it would be easier for them to love each other when the parents love each other.
