7 REASONS RELATIONSHIPS THESE DAYS NO LONGER LAST

sad man

The human race has come so far; it has advanced in everything it has laid its hands on, from technology to science, to medicine, to IT — just about everything concerning the human race has been greatly advanced, except love, one of man’s basic needs.

These are some of those reasons relationships of today don’t last.

1. WE ARE AFTER LUST

Many people don’t seek love anymore; many unconsciously seek lust with the mindset that they are after love. Relationships these days are mostly born out of lustful desires, making it almost impossible for it to survive in the long run.

2. WE ARE LAZY

Modern life has made us lazy; we seek shortcuts in almost everything we do. Technological advancement has made things very easy for us, and so we are used to having things easy. Unfortunately, there is no easy way out in relationships; you work every day to keep the fire burning and the moment you stop adding fuel to that relationship, it starts declining gradually.

3. IT’S ALL ABOUT SELF

From historical stories, I think previous eras were more selfless than us. In this modern era, everyone is on the move to take first place in a race that somehow never finishes. We bring this selfish attitude to our relationships, making it bound to fail from the onset.

4. WE ENTER RELATIONSHIPS FOR COMPANIONSHIP

Many people unconsciously seek relationship, not in search of love but companionship. Companionship is a good thing, but it shouldn’t take the place of love. A relationship built solely on the need to have a companion would never last.

5. FEAR

Fear has also played a factor in making relationships harder than it ought to be. We are scared of commitment, we are scared of falling in love, we are scared of being heartbroken, we are scared of not being loved. We are scared of everything regarding love; so how then can we love?

6. NO VALUE

Relationships these days no longer have value; people don’t value the fact that they have someone in their lives. When you cheat on your partner, it shows a lack of value; also, when you abuse your partner or take their love for granted, or put yourself first always. In many things we do, it shows that we don’t really value our relationships.

7. WE ARE NOT READY FOR SACRIFICE

A healthy relationship is built on sacrifice — couples not only loving each other, but treating each other right and never taking each other for granted. But we are too self-conscious to sacrifice for our partners. We want to have success without sacrificing — and it’s never possible. Just as every technological advancement was a sacrifice of a person or group of people, likewise relationships — it needs sacrifice to succeed.

Relationships these days don’t last and that’s more than a fact.
