7 POSITIVE WAYS TO HANDLE DISAPPOINTMENTS

Disappointments are a natural occurrence in life, and if you don’t handle disappointment positively, you’ll end up following the wrong path.

Disappointments could make you live in fear and make you fail if not handled properly. According to Helen Keller: “We would never learn to be brave and patient if there were only joy in the world.”

These are 7 positive ways you can handle disappointments:

1. NEVER GIVE UP

The first thing disappointment tells you is to give up and accept defeat; disappointments want you to believe that it’s all over for you. But you shouldn’t heed to such thoughts no matter the disappointment you’ve faced in life; as far as you haven’t given up, there’s always hope.

2. LEARN YOUR LESSONS

There’s always a lesson to be learnt from a disappointing situation; try to learn from each mistake you have made and move on from it. Every experience should make you wiser and stronger, and in turn teach you valuable lessons.

3. HAVE A WILL

You must have heard the saying ‘when there’s a will, there’s a way’; this also means when there isn’t a will, there wouldn’t be a way. One thing disappointment takes from you is your will, but you shouldn’t let it. Let nothing kill your will, drive and desire; once these are dead, it’ll be impossible for you to achieve that which you wanted.

4. IGNORE CRITICS

There will always be people who would criticise you, no matter what you do, and if you let critics and people who feel you aren’t good enough get to you, you’ll never overcome. Ignore your critics and believe that you’ll make it at the end. Making your critics swallow their words is always fulfilling.

5. SPEAK POSITIVELY

Don’t give disappointment permission to be a giant in your life; speak positively no matter the situation you’re faced with. Hold your head high and tell that disappointing situation that you’d overcome.

6. HAVE BELIEF

Have belief that you’d be what you want to be; believe that you’ll achieve whatever you want to achieve and have the belief that the disappointing situation isn’t the end of the road for you.

7. PATIENCE

You ought to remain patient; patience is a virtue. Good things take time sometimes, and impatience leads to one’s downfall. Learn to be patient and work for that which you desire; as far as you know what you want and have a plan towards achieving it, your patience will pay off.

You could face disappointments in your career, business, relationship and many aspects of life, but don’t let it be the end of the road for you.
