Drinking more water can literally change your life for the better. When you are properly hydrated, you can digest easier, sleep better and think clearer. Drinking enough water keeps your skin clear and may even help you lose weight.

Below are 6 ways to trick yourself into drinking more water

1. EAT YOUR WATER

Food has water in it. Vegetables and fruits are a great source of water. Some fruits and vegetables rich in water include cucumber, lettuce, water melon, radishes, spinach and grapefruits. It’s also important to note that these fruits and vegetables  are best eaten raw as they lose a lot of their water content when cooked.

2. FLAVOUR YOUR WATER

One of the reasons many people prefer going for soda instead of drinking water is because it taste better. The good news is that you can make your glass of water taste just as good without all that added sugar by using fresh fruits or vegetables to flavour your water. Cucumber, lemon, lime and watermelon are tasty options you can use.

3. ALWAYS HAVE A BOTTLE OF WATER AROUND YOU

It’s advisable you place a bottle of water by your bed side so you can take a glass of water first thing in the morning. Keeping a reusable cup or bottle at your desk at work will also help you drink more water.

4. DRINK BEFORE YOU EAT

Drinking before you eat would also help you drink more water. When you sit down to a meal, always make sure you have a glass or two of water before you start to eat. Doing this won’t just help you drink water, it would also help you lose weight according to a 2010 study which found that drinking two glasses of water before meals helped people lose five pounds more over 12 weeks than people who did not increase their water intake.

5. DILUTE YOUR JUICE

Diluting your juice with water is another creative way of drinking more water for those who would rather reach for something sweet instead of drinking just water. All you have to do is fill 1/4 of your glass with 100 percent fruit juice and then top the glass with water.

6. TRACK YOUR WATER INTAKE

Tracking your water intake can help you drink more water. Buying a water bottle with measurements on the side would help you track your water intake. Set an alarm on your phone that would go off at intervals throughout the day which would scream at you that it’s time to drink water. There are also apps that can help you keep track of your water intake. Try waterlogged if you are using an iPhone or Water Your Body for iPhone and Android users.
