We all have that friend who is in a relationship, but prefer not to call it a relationship yet. A lot of the times, people enter relationships but still prefer to tell others that they are single, not really because they aren’t proud of their partner, but they aren’t yet sure of the tag to place on that relationship.
There are quite a few reasons people do this; below are six reasons why:
1. FEAR OF COMMITMENT
Sometimes it’s the fear of commitment that make people rather not term their relationship as one; not everyone is comfortable with being totally committed, so they act rather slow in calling their relationship what it really is.
2. WAITING FOR THE RIGHT PERSON
People are in relationships, but are somewhat unsure if their partner is the right one for them in the long run; so they keep their options open even while in a relationship.
3. SOME STILL WANT TO CHEAT
To some, being tagged in a relationship would reduce their likelihood of cheating. In a bid to keep their cheating options open, they would rather not reveal their true relationship status.
4. LACK OF TRUST
To many, a lack of trust is the reason they haven’t termed their relationship as one yet. They don’t have enough trust in their partner and are still unsure of that person. Until they have enough trust in their partner, only then can they term their relationship as one.
5. THEY WANT TO REMAIN SINGLE A LITTLE MORE
Not everyone loves being in a relationship or are quick to call their relationship a relationship. Some people love to remain single a little more, even though they have a partner. Being in a relationship with these types can be a bit confusing.
6. SOME WANT TO REMAIN FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS
Some would prefer to be friends with benefits rather than deeming their relationship as one. To these ones, they prefer the sex and friendship; they love it even, but would rather have it that way and not call it a relationship.
