A lot of quarrels and fights in many homes are usually as a result of money. Money problems exist in many homes, and if you aren’t careful, it could ruin the marriage.
These are some of those money problems couples should be wary of.
1. MINE AND OURS
In marriages where only one parent earns all the money, there’s usually a problem of appropriation of resources, and on many occasions, there’s usually the problem of “it’s my money” and “it’s our money”. Also, in marriages where both couples are working, the problem of “my money” and “our money” also exists.
2. EXTENDED FAMILY
Before we have a new family, there’s usually a family we come from, and when couples then start a new family, there’s still a sense of responsibility to their parents, siblings and extended family members, and this could cause a lot of misunderstanding between both partners.
3. PERSONALITY DIFFERENCE
When one partner is a spendthrift and the other isn’t, this could lead to so many clashes, and this difference in personality affects many marriages.
4. DEBT
When one partner seems to be in debt, especially when the debt is extravagant and ridiculous, the other partner could become aggrieved. This happens a lot in many marriages today, and the problems it comes with, are usually tempestuous.
5. CONTROL
When one partner wants to have control over how the resources should be used and spent, the other partner might become disillusioned and unhappy, and this could cause friction in the long run.
6. CHILDREN
There are so many things involving finance and raising a child; from school fees and tuition to selection of schools, feeding, toys and games, clothes etc. Each partner might have what they deem as the most appropriate, and this could lead to conflict.
