Trying to make new friends could be intimidating sometimes but some of the tips listed below would ensure you make a good first impression

Below are 5 ways to make a good first impression

1. LEARN TO TAKE THE INITIATIVE AND BE PROACTIVE

I understand it’s more comfortable being reactive and waiting for someone to make the first move but if you learn to be proactive, you would definitely make more friends. So don’t be afraid to be the first to make eye contact and smile.

2. BE WELL-READ

Most people hate reading these days but the truth is those who are well-read find it easier to make a good first impression because they have vast knowledge of so many subjects and this ensures they don’t bore who they are with. Learn to read everything you lay your hands on.

3. THE WAY YOU INTRODUCE YOURSELF ALSO MATTERS

This is key in making a good first impression. Master the act of introduction. One very effective one of introducing yourself and leaving a good first impression is by quickly saying your name and one reason you love what you do. For example, I am John and I put a smile on the face of the wealthy. That introduction would definitely spark an interest in knowing you more. John in the example above is a banker who manages the accounts of the super rich and that was a super way to introduce himself.

4. FOCUS ON THE PERSON YOU ARE WITH

You can’t give a good first impression if you are distracted when communicating with your new friend. So the next time you meet someone for the first time, avoid every distraction including your phone and focus on your new friend.

5. DON’T GET TOO NOSY BY ASKING SO MANY QUESTIONS

Asking too many questions would ruin your aim of making a good first impression. Ask your new friend about himself/herself and their responses should guide your conversation, then share your story.

These tips would ensure you make a good first impression.
