Being confident for an interview isn’t an easy task, but it’s an important one because your interviewer expects you to be confident, and would have more belief in you when you sound confident.
However, even if you lack confidence and you are extremely nervous for an interview, you can hide it by applying the following tricks.
1. SMILE
There are so many things a smile can do for you. You would seem more friendly, positive, charming and confident when you smile. A smile can make a huge difference between how you feel and how your interviewer perceives you to be.
2. TALK CALMLY
Your nervousness would show when you talk too fast. Talking too fast would show all your flaws, and you might lose that job even though you are the best candidate for the job.
Try to talk slowly and calmly; don’t rush your words, and your feeling of nervousness would be hidden.
3. MAINTAIN EYE CONTACT
Maintaining eye contact shows confidence and hides nervousness. When you look down and look away from the interviewer, you pass a message of being timid and unprepared.
However, it’s important to note that too much eye contact is just as bad as not maintaining eye contact.
4. ASK QUESTIONS
Asking relevant questions when necessary shows a sign of confidence, and better still, it shifts the attention away from you and onto your interviewer.
5. DON’T FIDGET
If there is anything you must not do is to not fidget. Don’t bite your nails, don’t scratch your body, don’t stamp your feet or do any repeated movement. Just relax, breath, concentrate and be yourself.
If you want to hide your feeling of nervousness in an interview then you should adhere to these tips above.
