5 TIPS TO CONTROL YOUR ANGER BEFORE YOU DO SOMETHING STUPID

One thing about anger is that it’s a very powerful emotion that ends up with you doing something stupid and something you wouldn’t ordinarily do. Everyone gets angry, although there are variances; but there’s self-control, and while some people have it, other’s don’t.

You aren’t born with self-control; it’s a trait that you practice or form over a period of time. So no matter how angry you could get, there’s always self-control.

Anger can ruin relationships, anger can ruin your career, anger can land you in jail and anger can ruin everything you have. This is how to stop it from hurting your life:

1. SAY TO YOURSELF EVERY DAY THAT YOU WOULDN’T BE ANGRY

Anger isn’t only an emotion; it’s also a decision and a choice you make. In essence, you can choose not to be angry. Make that decision every day; tell yourself every morning that no matter what you wouldn’t be angry today. When you do that for so long; you’ll build that consciousness in you, and you’ll start to build peace instead of hate or anger within you.

2. NOTICE WHEN IT’S COMING

You don’t just get angry at a split second; it builds and it comes gradually. Understand when it’s coming and make a decision to not be angry. Don’t let anger take you by surprise; notice the traits when it’s coming.

3. EXCUSE YOURSELF

When you notice that you’re beginning to get angry, then choose to walk away. It isn’t foolishness but wisdom; if anything, it’s anger that’s foolishness and that’ll make you do stupid things.

Learn to walk away from situations and circumstances when you are losing your cool.

4. TAKE A COUPLE OF BREATHS

Taking a deep breath actually works; it’ll slow your heart rate and send oxygen to your brain. Do this repeatedly, and you’ll be surprised at how calmer you’d become in no time.

5. CONGRATULATE YOURSELF

If you save yourself from the claws of anger then you ought to congratulate yourself, because it’ll take a lot of maturity and mental strength to achieve that. So give yourself some credit.

 

Never take pride in anger, and never believe anger is an emotion that you can’t control. You can always control it, only if you want to.
