5 THINGS YOU SHOULD DISCUSS WITH YOUR PARTNER BEFORE MARRIAGE

couple talking

You should be adequately prepared before heading into marriage. When you jump into marriage without adequate preparations, you jump out of it sooner than expected.

Just because you love him/her isn’t enough criteria to get married. There are certain things you should discuss with your partner before saying “I do”.

Check them out below

1. MONEY

Never underrate the power of money in a marriage. I have seen several marriages crumble due to money problems. Before getting married, you need to have a discussion about each other’s finances. You both need to understand if you both can support a family, how bills should be paid and if any of you have a debt.

2. ABOUT BEING A PARENT

You should understand not everyone goes into marriage with the intention of having babies. You need to talk about having babies with your partner to know if your partner wants same too. You might be in for a shock later in life if you don’t discuss this.

3. WHERE TO LIVE

Where to live when married is a conversation you need to have with your prospective partner. Some people prefer to stay close to their family while others might want to stay far from their family. If you are both living in different cities before marriage, then this discussion is a must.

4. YOUR GOALS AND VALUES

You shouldn’t agree to get married without talking about each other’s goals and values. If your goals and values are different and conflict with each other, you need to reevaluate the relationship.

5. YOUR PAST

You might think this isn’t important until your past comes up in future and destroys your marriage. It’s important you clear the air about any unresolved issues in your past which has the potential to resurface in future.
