4 THINGS YOU STAND TO GAIN WHEN YOU GIVE YOURSELF ENOUGH SLEEP

sleep

Most of us are so caught up in ‘the paper chase’, that we sometimes forget to pause and let our bodies cool off. You see, the body is like an engine— it functions best if it stays in top shape. You need to service it, grease it, lubricate it and so on to get it to function at a top level. Likewise, the body needs to rest and relax from time to time, if we must stay in good shape and get the best out of ourselves.

One of the ways you get the body to relax is by giving yourself quality some sleep every day. It is recommended that you give yourself at least, 6 hours of sleep every night. This doesn’t mean that you cannot add more sleep time, if you can manage it. And it doesn’t mean that you wouldn’t be able take care of that important business deal you have on your plate. Sleep is important for all of us. So let’s take a look at some of the benefits of Sleeping.

1. YOUR BRAIN REBOOTS, AND FUNCTIONS BETTER

Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night and tried to study? You find that it is far easier for your mind to digest and understand than it would if you tried to force it down before you sleep. Such is the importance of sleep to the brain. When you sleep, you body and muscles don’t just relax, your brain also relaxes, and reboots (per se), so you wake up feeling new, and better.

2. YOU REGAIN LOST NUTRIENTS AND ENERGY

Imagine you have a horse that you use for all the major works in your farm, and it never gets to rest (sleep). Do you honestly think that it will stay healthy? No matter what and how often you feed it, that horse will always be malnourished because it never gets to rest. All it does is eat and work, without allowing its body to make good use of all that food.

This is true for humans as well. Believe it or not, you burn so much energy doing work during the day, and in the process, you also lose important nutrients that would be of good use to your body. Sleeping is the best way you can regain lost body energy, as it also allows the body replenish some of the nutrients it would have lost.

3. IT PROMOTES HAIR GROWTH

If you’re running out of hair or you aren’t growing enough of it, it may be because you’re not giving yourself enough rest (sleep). The hormone that is responsible for hair growth is anti-stress—- meaning that it doesn’t work well in the face of stress. So to get it to become more active, you must minimize stress, and get yourself adequate rest (sleep). This is a proven way of improving your hair growth. Give it a try.

4. IT CAN AID WEIGHT LOSS

According to weight loss experts, Sleeping for a good number of hours a day, can help one lose weight to some extent. This is because when you sleep, your metabolism rate increases, and that in turn, helps you burn a good amount of fat. So the more sleep you get, the greater fat you’re likely to burn.
