4 THINGS YOU NEED TO STOP DOING IF YOU WANT YOUR RELATIONSHIP TO LAST

happy couple

No relationship is perfect, there’ll sometimes be issues — after all, we are all humans. However, that doesn’t mean that we cannot try to have a near-perfect relationship, and how do we do that? Simply by avoiding those things that can cut it short. I have put together four of these things, so read and learn.

1. FAILURE TO ACCEPT BLAME

If you’re not the type to accept faults when wrong, there’s no way your relationship will stand the test of time. Saying sorry doesn’t make you weak, it simply means that you’re mature and responsible enough to accept that you’re wrong, and willing to make amends. When your partner knows this, they’d be willing to let go and give you another opportunity, as long as it’s coming from an honest place.

2. COMPARING YOUR PRESENT TO YOUR EX

Sometimes, people do this when they’re unhappy about something their partner has done, or does, but it’s still not a justification. You cannot compare your man or woman to your ex under any circumstances. Your ex is in the past and they belong there. Your partner is human, remember, so they can feel that you’re still somehow linked to your ex when you keep talking about them in that manner. It can also make one feel less appreciated, so don’t ever do it.

3. DON’T TRY TO CHANGE YOUR PARTNER

If you’re going to date someone, be ready to get and live with the full package, good or bad. Nobody is perfect, as I have already stated, as long as their habit doesn’t directly affect you negatively, let them be. Trying to change them would give the impression that you don’t appreciate them enough, and want to make them into another person. Always be sure you love someone for who they are before committing to them.

4. HOLDING GRUDGES

If your partner wrongs you, the ideal thing to do is simply talk to them about it when they’re in a better mood, and as long as they’re a right thinking person, they’d definitely apologise. You cannot get an apology if you don’t make your displeasure known. Keeping grudges would make you feel nothing but hate and bitterness, and that can ruin your relationship.

It takes a lot of effort to keep a relationship going healthy. As long as you continue trying, yours shouldn’t suffer.
