4 THINGS EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW ABOUT HER PERIOD

How much do you think you know about your period? I bet not too much. Apart from the fact the period is part of the menstrual cycle when a woman bleeds for a few days, most women know nothing else.

Below are 4 things every woman should know about her period

1. WOMEN GET PMS DUE TO HORMONAL CHANGES

A lot of women definitely know about PMS (premenstrual syndrome) but not a lot of women know why it even occurs. PMS occurs because your body is sensitive to hormone levels – progesterone and estrogen – changing rapidly. These hormonal changes can cause symptoms such as bloating, mood swings, headache, breast tenderness, and fatigue in some women.

2. IT’S POSSIBLE TO GET PREGNANT DURING YOUR PERIOD

Experts say it’s not likely you could get pregnant during your period but it’s possible. According to experts, if you have s*x toward the end of your period and ovulate two or three days later with the sperm still inside of you, it’s possible you could get pregnant. Remember it’s not likely but it’s possible.

3. STRESS CAUSES IRREGULAR PERIOD

Have you ever wondered what could be the cause of your irregular period? Well according to experts, stress, illness, excessive weight gain or loss, hormonal problems, strenuous exercise and eating disorders can adversely affect a woman’s cycle.

4. SEEING YOUR PERIOD DOESN’T MEAN YOU ARE NOT PREGNANT

Just because you started seeing your period doesn’t mean you should be 100% certain you are not pregnant. According to experts, your period could just be you bleeding which happens in early pregnancy and it’s difficult to tell the difference sometimes. Experts advise you go for a pregnancy test if it doesn’t progress as a regular period. Don’t be in a hurry to conclude it’s your period because it could just be bleeding in early pregnancy.
