10 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULDN’T COMPARE YOUR RELATIONSHIP TO THAT OF SOMEONE ELSE

So many of us are guilty of comparing our relationship to that of someone else and this is unhealthy and damaging to any relationship.

Here are 10 reasons why you shouldn’t compare your relationship to that of someone else

1. The problem with comparing your relationship to that of someone else is that you don’t see everything in that relationship. The couple you are comparing your relationship to probably have their fights and bad times that you don’t see.

2. When you compare your relationship to that of someone else, you only focus on the negatives in your relationship, neglecting the positives that can be found in your relationship.

3. You ridicule what you share with your partner when you compare your relationship to that of someone else.

4. Everyone has faults, even that perfect partner your friend seems to have. Instead of comparing your relationship to that of someone else, love the positive things about your partner and learn to accept your partner’s faults.

5. The person whose relationship you are comparing yours to might just be envying your relationship. You might think your relationship isn’t perfect but others may not see it that way.

6. Comparing your relationship to that of someone else will only bring you down. Why make yourself feel sad and terrible by comparing your relationship to that of others.

7. You get too focused on what your relationship lacks and miss out on the good things your relationship has when you compare your relationship to that of someone else.

8. It’s wrong to compare your relationship to that of someone else because every relationship is unique just as every one is unique. So what works in your friend’s relationship might not work for you in your relationship.

9. You hurt your partner when you compare your relationship to that of someone else. You make your partner feel like he or she isn’t good enough for you when you compare relationships.

10. Comparing your relationship to someone else’s is just a complete waste of time. If you are unhappy in your relationship, it’s either you work on fixing your relationship or move on. Why waste your time comparing relationships when you will gain absolutely nothing from the comparisons?
