The liver is the largest organ in the body. The liver is very important to the body as it helps your body digest food, store energy and remove poisons.

It’s important we take proper care of the liver due to the huge role it plays in the body.

Below are 6 ways you damage your liver

1. YOU CONSUME WAY TOO MUCH SUGAR

Eating too many foods such as soda, candy and pastries with added sugar is bad for the liver. Consuming too much refined sugar causes a fatty buildup which can lead to liver disease.

Adding the extra pounds can lead to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) which can cause the liver to swell. Ensure you are on a proper diet and you exercise regularly.

3. TAKING HERBAL SUPPLEMENTS

Make sure you talk to your doctor before taking herbal supplements. While going natural is good for body, some herbal supplements can keep the liver from working right.

4. YOU CONSUME TOO MUCH SOFT DRINKS

While a cold bottle of soft drink during a hot day can make you feel refreshed, consuming too much soft drink can damage your liver.

5. ALCOHOL

Taking too much alcohol is bad for your liver. If you have to drink, be sure to keep it moderate. Men should avoid taking more than 2 drinks per day while women shouldn’t do more than one.
